Lesley Vallance
Lesley Vallance is the Founder and Director of Holistic Growth Solutions, a leadership, Human Resource management, and workplace wellbeing consultancy dedicated to helping organisations build sustainable, human-centred workplaces that drive real performance.
With extensive experience across high-pressure and operationally complex environments, Lesley has worked within and alongside industries including Facilities Management, construction, demolition, retail, and corporate head offices. This breadth of experience gives her a unique ability to bridge the gap between frontline operations and executive leadership, ensuring that strategy is not only designed—but embedded and lived across the organisation.
Her expertise spans HR strategy, cultural transformation, and the development of internal Human Resource capabilities, enabling businesses to move beyond reactive compliance toward proactive, high-performing people systems. Through a hybrid HR model, Lesley focuses on strengthening in-house HR functions, aligning policies, leadership, and systems with organisational goals and ISO standards, while embedding psychosocial safety and wellbeing into everyday operations.
Lesley served as Chair of the Victorian Committee for the Facilities Management Association of Australia (FMA) from 2019 to 2023, where she played a key role in shaping industry direction and elevating the importance of leadership, wellbeing, and professional standards. During this time, she led initiatives that brought together industry leaders and stakeholders to address emerging challenges, while driving critical conversations around psychosocial safety, mental health, and the role of people and culture in operational environments.
Her leadership contributed to stronger industry collaboration, increased engagement, and a greater focus on supporting frontline workers—the backbone of the Facilities Management sector. Through events, panels, and strategic forums, Lesley helped influence a shift toward more progressive, human-centred practices across the industry.
By integrating leadership development, workplace psychology, and human resource management, Lesley supports organisations to build resilient teams, improve engagement, and achieve measurable, sustainable growth—where people and performance thrive together.

What Motivates Lesley
Lesley’s work is driven by what she has consistently witnessed across industries:
She recognised that the issue wasn’t capability.
- High-performing teams quietly burning out.
- Leaders under pressure to deliver—often without support.
- Teams working hard—but not always working together.
- Head offices disconnected from operational reality.
She recognised that the issue wasn’t capability.
It was design.
Workplaces were built for output—but not for people.
And she refused to accept that burnout, disengagement, and high turnover were simply “part of the job.”
The Turning Point
From demolition sites to corporate offices, Lesley saw the same pattern repeat:
This shaped her focus:
And most importantly—
- Strong individuals.
- Disconnected teams.
- Leaders doing their best—but without the tools, structure, or support to lead sustainably.
This shaped her focus:
- Leadership must be developed—not assumed
- Teams must be intentionally built—not left to chance
- Culture must be embedded—not spoken about
And most importantly—
Performance must be sustainable.

Author of Phosphorescent Intelligence
Lesley is the author of Phosphorescent Intelligence: Illuminating Growth, Holistic Well-Being, and Resilient Culture in the Modern Workplace.
She wrote the book to challenge this model and offer a different way forward.
The book was born from lived experience—not theory.
Across industries and environments, Lesley observed a consistent pattern:
- Performance driven by pressure.
- Success achieved at the expense of people.
- Workplaces functioning—but not truly thriving.
She wrote the book to challenge this model and offer a different way forward.
What is Phosphorescent Intelligence?
Phosphorescent Intelligence is a leadership and organisational philosophy inspired by the concept of phosphorescence—light that continues to glow even after the original source is gone.
It is the shift from flash to glow.
In a workplace context, it represents the ability to build organisations that:
- Sustain performance under pressure
- Support people beyond surface-level initiatives
- Create cultures that hold, not fracture
- Deliver impact that lasts
It is the shift from flash to glow.
From short-term performance to long-term, sustainable success.
